Flower
gifts are appropriate for many occasions. Most people welcome a gift
of flowers any day of the year. Flower gifts come in many shapes,
sizes, colors and packages.
While some jokesters may infer that flowers are only sent to a love
interest when you need to apologize for a misdeed, there are many
reasons and occasions for which flower gifts are the best gift option.
When someone gives you a flower gift, the gift is more than just the
tangible flower arrangement. The thoughtfulness and the sentiment
behind the flowers is also a very big part of the gift.
The old saying, “It’s the thought that counts,”
bids well when accompanied by a floral offering. While sentiments
and proclamations of love are really wonderful to hear, they seem
to grab at the heartstrings even more when accompanied by a lovely
flower gift.
If you plan to declare your love with flowers, or even if you just
want your significant other to know that you’re mindful of them
during a stressful time, it is wise to send something of significance.
Flower gifts of all types can bear messages of love. Consider sending
your wife or girlfriend’s favorite flower. It will bode well
for you for years to know she has a favorite.
For the woman who enjoys all flowers, consider the written message
that comes with the card as your personalization on the gift. Write
something special to the both of you, whether that is a special song
lyric, a quote you know she particularly likes or simply a heartfelt
expression of your love for her.
If you are giving flowers early in a relationship, or as a hostess
gift, consider safe flower gifts that come in their own vases. It
can be distracting for a hostess to have to scramble to dig out a
vase in the middle of a party. Bring flowers in a vase for such an
occasion.
There are so many different kinds of flower gifts that it would be
impossible to name them all. A sampling, though incomplete list, might
include:
• Potted flowers such as amaryllis or paper whites.
• Traditional cut flowers in a vase – these can be an
assortment or the traditional dozen roses.
• Boxed flowers are often sent via delivery – these are
cut flowers, which often have small tubes of water attached to each
stem. Again, roses come to mind, but there are many different kinds
of flowers sent this way.
• Flowers as condolences for funerals are usually sent to a
mortuary or funeral home where a memorial service is being held. They
can also be sent to the family members of the deceased.
• Cheerful arrangements are often sent to welcome a new baby
or to a loved one recovering in the hospital.
• Corsages, boutonnieres and other wearable flower gifts are
often used at formal events, such as weddings, galas and proms.
Flower gifts send sentiments to people you care about. Flowers can
express many things, such as romantic love, support in times of grief,
encouragement through an illness and joy at the birth of a baby. Flowers
are also used to offer congratulations for graduations or promotions
and for celebrations.
